Ironically, the initial 10 persons who started BBG were themselves facing crises in their businesses. However, through their sheer determination, faith and commitment, they were able not only to overcome their challenges, but have helped many others who faced similar problems. Today BBG has more than 400 people, consisting entrepreneurs in businesses such as medical, furniture, clothing, education and training, lifestyle, and IT; as well as professionals such as doctors, lawyers, CFOs, CEOs, accountants, educators, civil service officials.
BBG has a tagline "Building Business For Christ". This aptly describes why we do business, to channel money to fulfil the purposes of God. We believe strongly in doing humanitarian works, such as feeding the poor, helping the sick, and providing education to children who have no financial means. In past years, BBG has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help the needy in Singapore as well as in countries such as China. We have provided free furniture, given out vouchers for buying groceries at supermarkets, paid off utility bills, school fees, outstanding housing repayments for the poor families. We also donated $120,000 to the Cancer Society, and more than $100,000 to the Sichuan Earthquake victims.
BBG has also raised money to build schools in China, in some of the poorest villages such as Tongren (GuiZhou). We have further plans to build more schools and to pay for their school uniforms and sponsor some scholarships. We also believe in imparting skills and knowledge and will embark on a program to enhance IT literacy amongst the school children.
BBG stands on the principle that if we build our business on a vision that is larger than ourselves or our business, then success will naturally follow. In doing business, we believe strongly in the principles of integrity, excellence, servant hood, generosity and fairness. We have a threefold mandate in the marketplace - Transform, Accumulate and Dominate. We transform the marketplace through practising the right principles for business, and because we build our business on right principles, we will naturally do well in business and accumulate wealth and dominate the industries we are in.
